The Fulmar Colour Ink Lab
Fulmar Colour's very own in-house ink mixing facility is a
fantastic resource for our clients. The Ink Lab uses the latest
technology and enables us to experiment on materials and substrates
to cater for the precise demands of any project.
One of the most popular uses of this facility is colour-matching
inks. We've colour-matched fabric, chocolate bars and even fruit in
the past; one client wanted corporate stationery with an aubergine
colour and couldn't find a pantone close enough, so we developed a
new ink shade. A major publishing house asked us to develop a
signature colour for one of their imprints that would be consistent
across different titles and impressions. For clients wanting to
reproduce their corporate colours accurately across different
substrates, colour consistency can be achieved using the Fulmar
Colour Ink Lab.
The ink facility, managed by Flint Group at Fulmar's Croydon
base, doesn't only provide colour matching solutions. For one
client, who needed bright and luminous health and safety stickers
for use outdoors, we developed a light-fast ink that resisted the
fading of normal inks.
The Fulmar Colour Ink Lab has also developed specific varnishes
for clients who require a particularly slick finish - automotive
and cosmetic brands for example. We've also added value to cosmetic
companies' materials through scented inks: a popular finish is a
varnish that releases a scent when it comes into contact with the
warmth of someone's hand as they take a piece of mail out of an
envelope.
