Printing

The use of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) as part of the printing process gives rise to VOCs (volatile organic compounds). At Fulmar, through a substantial investment in new processes, we are one of the few organisations worldwide that are running without IPA and can therefore claim to be alcohol free.

Inks

We are able to offer advice on environmentally friendly inks; in fact all our inks are bio but for specific jobs we can use inks made from vegetable based compounds such as soya. We have switched from disposable wipes to rags, which are washed and re-used. We also have our own ink laboratory which can advise on all matters relating to colour, ink suitability and provide drawdowns on various stocks.

Paper

We operate a strict policy of grading and returning waste for recycling. In addition, we will collect unwanted copies of materials previously printed for recycling. Over the past ten years, the paper industry has increased its environmental awareness. We require that all our recommended mills in Europe practise eco-friendly methods of production and waste management. We can offer advice on all papers as to their environmental credentials and have strong links to the principal suppliers.
