Amy Winehouse The Biography 1983 - 2011 has been updated and extended by journalist and author Chas Newkey-Burden in the days since the singer was discovered dead on 23rd July, including quotes from her father's eulogy at her funeral on 26th July. Books were delivered by CPI on Monday 1st August.

Manufacturing the 'significant quantity' of books over the weekend was a team effort that required seamless coordination across the CPI group. CPI White Quill produced newly designed covers, including photographs showing the floral tributes from fans, with matt lamination and spot UV varnish. CPI's commercial division, Fulmar Colour, printed two eight-page colour plate sections to illustrate the book, completing its part by Friday 29th July. Final text files were given to CPI Bookmarque on Thursday 28th July, with finished books delivered direct to a number of retail hubs on Monday.

Ian Smith, chief operating officer of CPI's book division, praised the efforts of the Croydon team: "Yet again we have met an extremely challenging manufacturing deadline, demonstrating the CPI group resources and capabilities perfectly".

Moira Ashcroft, production manager at John Blake, shared praise for CPI's achievement: "CPI did a wonderful job for us in producing this title so quickly - including delivering to some customers the same day as binding. Thanks to everyone who made this possible."

Leading industry magazine PrintWeek told its followers on the social networking site Twitter: 'A sad story results in a great story for book publishing and production.'

Amy Winehouse The Biography 1983 - 2011 by Chas Newkey-Burden is published tomorrow (4th August) in paperback by John Blake, priced £7.99
